Bird hunting has been a part of the Barillà family heritage for over 60 years and bird hunting dogs has become a way of life. As a young boy growing up in the Southern part of Italy, Santo Barillà was owner of two Pointer dogs, an English Pointer named Jim and a Setter Pointer named Mike. He quickly fell in love with their nature, characteristics, and realized how loyal and what a true friend they can be.
Having two sons of his own, they also quickly grew a passion for Pointer dogs at an early age and as they grew older, Santo Barillà took his sons’ upland game bird hunting and they also competed dogs at the NSTRA Field Trials both in Canada and the USA.
With his in depth love of dogs, especially the Pointer breed, Barillà Kennels Canada was established in 1992 by Santo Barillà and his son Giuseppe who also has been training hunting dogs since he was thirteen years old. Barillà Kennels Canada has grown into a professional facility that offers professional and customized dog training, dog boarding, and is a specialist in breeding English Pointer (known as American Pointer), Setters, Germain Short Haired Pointers, Brittany Spaniels, Labrador retrievers, Vislaz and other hunting dogs.
Barillà Kennels Canada has the capability to host/board up to 25 dogs in its kennel. They are 4’wide x 8’long, have a dog container or house and is filled with cedar wood chips giving the dogs a warm and cozy place to sleep and /or relax while adding a fresh cedar scent to the dog’s coat. An outside dog run is adjacent to the kennel building so dogs can get some fresh air and stretch their legs during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.
Barillà Kennels Canada is a multi-facetted company making our living by raising, training, hunting, breeding, and selling bird dogs. We also specialize in finding owners their own breed of dog if they are not interested in bird dogs.

One of our customers from Vancouver, British Columbia who had two dogs “Duke and Dot” as family pets from Barillà Kennels Canada wrote a children’s book called “The True Story of Duke and Dot”. The book was written by A.T. Valle and published in 2015.
Our business has been filmed on television for Upland Game Bird Hunting. Barillà Kennels Canada has also been featured several times in a magazine called “SETTER ANGLAIS QUÉBEC” originating in Québec, Canada.
